Introducing the Indigo is a documentary short film for young people about a threatened species: the Eastern indigo snake. The longest snake native to North America, the indigo faces loss of habitat and other challenges. Join the filmmakers on a journey of discovery and natural wonder, and learn about this remarkable species, its habitat, its dependence on gopher tortoise burrows, and the role of prescribed fire in this dynamic film. As viewers explore Longleaf pine forest and watch the indigo snake, they hear a conversation unfold between a young woman and two curious children. While the girl and boy ask questions, the woman reveals some of the fascinating aspects of the Eastern indigo snake and its behaviors.
